Saturdays are for making things.
Skill-Building Saturdays give children the opportunity to learn practical, hands-on skills that often don't have a place in their busy school week.
They’ll cook, sew, build, garden, create and work with their hands — learning skills they can carry with them long after the Saturday is over.
This isn't about keeping kids busy. It's about teaching them to do things.
Each workshop is designed around a real skill and gives children the time and freedom to practice it themselves.
Depending on the workshop, children might:
Learn to crochet and complete a small project
Sew by hand
Cook a meal from scratch
Learn basic woodworking
Garden and work with plants
Make something they can actually use
Learn practical skills that build independence
Childhood should be hands-on.
Saturdays at Nourish
Ages: 8+
Time: 9am-11am
Location: Liberty Way Farm, 1050 Hwy 5, Dundas
Cost: $65+ depending on the class
Class size: Small groups
No experience necessary. Just come ready to make something.

Learn To Crochet
NOVEMBER 7 9am-11am
Liberty Way Farm
A cozy winter day of learning the basics of crochet. Children will be introduced to a slip knot, how to chain, how to single crochet and more complex stitches if they are ready. They will have the opportunity to create a small project or continue practicing the basics.
Class fee includes professional instruction, their own crochet hook and yarn to take home as well as a beverage and snack.

Learn To Knit
Spend a morning of learning the basics of knitting. Children will be introduced to a slip knot, how to cast on, how to make a stitch and more complex stitches (such as purling) if they are ready. They will have the opportunity to create a small project or continue practicing the basics.
Class fee includes professional instruction, their own knitting needles and yarn to take home as well as a beverage and snack.

Wood Whittling Workshop
Learn the basics of creating something out of a piece of raw wood.
Children will learn to safely use wood whittling knives and other tools to create their own masterpiece!
The workshop fee includes professional instruction, the use of wood whittling tools and safety equipment as well as a beverage and snack.

Homemade Bread & Butter Workshop
You can smell it already! Come and learn the basics (and the science) behind bread making! Children will measure, mix, proof, knead and bake their own load of bread to bring home. While that is baking, we will learn how delicious and simple it is to make your own butter. Add fresh herbs or leave it plain! All yours to take home.
Class fee also includes a beverage and snack.
